Saint Luis Rey Eiroa 30th Anniversary

The non-Cuban Saint Luis Rey brand is turning 30 years old this year, and Altadis U.S.A. is teaming up with Christian Eiroa of CLE to mark the occasion by trying to recreate the profile of the original release.

As for why Eiroa is involved with the project, he created the original Honduran puro blend of the Saint Luis Rey while he was working with his father, Julio. The pair produced the cigar for Max Rohr Imports Inc., which owned the mark at the time. The original cigars debuted in May 1996. The brand changed hands a few times after mergers, ending up with Altadis S.A. in 1999.

The Saint Luis Rey Christian Eiroa 30th Anniversary is a way for Christian to reunite with one of his family’s great cigars. The recreation uses the rare Colombian Pinareno wrapper and covers an extra-aged Corojo binder. The filler uses Pinareno and Corojo tobaccos from Christian’s private reserve.
