One hundred and eighty years after the establishment of one of the oldest cigar brands in the world, H. Upmann is bringing to life the H. Upmann 1844 Special Edition Barbier, a premium cigar that pays homage to the innovative craftsmanship of the brand’s founding brothers.
The 1844 Special Edition Barbier (German for “Barber”) uses a unique combination of two Ecuadorian wrappers – Connecticut and Sumatra – with a Java binder and a blend of Nicaraguan, Dominican and Broadleaf fillers.
“The use of these contrasting shades of wrappers makes for an eye-catching, barber-pole-like presentation,” says Pedro Ventura, Hand Made Operation and Product Development Manager of Tabacalera de Garcia in La Romana, Dominican Republic where the cigar is being produced.
“The wrappers work together to add an entirely new flavor profile to the cigar, making one’s smoking session a lot more interesting as well,” he says.
The H. Upmann 1844 Barbier is a complex medium-bodied cigar. You will find rich starting notes of leather, cedar and cream and then finishing notes of chocolate, earth and pepper.
Enjoy the best of both wrappers and the unique smoking experience from this legacy brand.
