“Angel’s Share” – “the part of the angels”. This term is used in the wine and spirits industry. Indeed, these noble products know in the process of their development a “raising” in barrels. During this sometimes very long period (especially for alcohol), a natural loss due to evaporation reduces the volume of the contents. This “lost” part is called “the part of the angels”.

In 2012, the Fuente factory experienced a terrible fire during which they lost a lot of valuable tobacco. Indeed, the warehouses which burned contained tobaccos that were preserved since the fifties or even the forties! The Fuente family treasured them with the intention of using them for the commemoration of their 100th birthday. Unfortunately, fate has decided otherwise because fire has consumed most of these reserves. This event has upset and deeply saddened the Fuente family – but that’s where the “Angel’s Share” comes from.

Carlito thought that the Angels who took advantage of the exceptional scents of his precious missing tobacco would in turn bring their blessing to future family businesses – hence this particular and very personal name.
