THE SEQUEL TO THE PREQUEL
The highly acclaimed Pledge series from Casa Carrillo has released a commemorative limited edition called Pledge Purple, which is the sequel to the “Prequel”, the 2020 Cigar Aficionado “Cigar of the Year”.
Made in the Dominican Republic at Casa Carrillo, Pledge made a big splash in 2020 when the Prequel scored an astonishing 98 rating.
The Purple showcases a dark Cuban-seed wrapper grown by Dunn & Foster in Connecticut and comes from the same crop as the original Pledge award-winner. This wrapper was set aside for extra-aging by brand owner Ernesto Perez-Carrillo for just such an occasion.
The Mexican binder encases a blend of Nicaraguan tobaccos from Esteli, Condega and Ometepe. The result is a more powerful and robust expression with thick, dark notes of oak, roasted nuts, a touch of spice, and a monster aroma.
The release is limited to a total of 3500 boxes.
